Product details
Mechanical foam fire extinguisher on a trolley, 25 to 100 litres
The FireSpray mechanical foam fire extinguisher is a wheeled unit for large flammable-liquid risks. It sits on a heavy-duty trolley, so one person can wheel a large quantity of foam to a spill fire and keep fighting it for much longer than a hand-held unit allows. It carries the ISI mark, is pressure-tested at our factory and is covered by a 5-year warranty from the invoice date. It comes in 25 L, 50 L and 100 L; select a size above to see its price (plus GST).
What is it for?
The foam lays a blanket over burning petrol, diesel, oil or solvent. The blanket cuts off air and helps stop the fuel re-igniting. It also works on solid materials such as wood and paper. Typical sites:
- Fuel storage, tank farms and refineries
- Chemical and paint plants
- Tanker loading and unloading bays
- Large factories with oil or solvent stores
What not to use it on
Foam is not for live electrical equipment. Switch off power first if it is safe, or use a CO2 fire extinguisher or a clean agent fire extinguisher on panels, motors and switchgear. Do not use it on kitchen fryer fires; canteens need a K-type kitchen fire extinguisher.
Trolley or portable foam?
| Situation | Product |
|---|---|
| Large stocks of fuel or solvent, open yards, tanker bays | This mechanical foam fire extinguisher |
| Every floor of the plant, workshops, DG rooms | Foam type fire extinguisher, 6 or 9 L |
| Open areas with mixed risks, including gas | ABC wheeled fire extinguisher |
Most sites use both: trolleys at the main fuel risk, and portable foam units spread across the floor. See the full foam fire extinguisher range.
Which size do I need?
Choose the size by the quantity of liquid stored and the open area to cover:
| Size | Good for |
|---|---|
| 25 L | Smaller fuel stores, paint stores, workshop yards |
| 50 L | Tanker bays, chemical and paint plants |
| 100 L | Tank farms, refineries and large fuel storage areas |
Park the trolley on firm, level ground with a clear path to the risk, away from the spot where a spill is most likely. If you are unsure, our team can size it for you as part of a placement plan.
How to use a foam trolley
- Wheel the unit to a safe distance, upwind of the fire if you can.
- Unroll the hose fully and hold the nozzle firmly.
- Pull the safety pin and open the unit as shown on its label.
- Let the foam fall just in front of the burning liquid and flow across it. Do not aim straight into a pool of fuel, as that can splash it.
- Cover the whole surface and keep the blanket in place.
This is a two-person job where possible: one on the nozzle, one managing the trolley and watching the exit. Leave the area at once if the fire spreads, and call the fire brigade on 101.
Monthly check, no yearly refills
Once a month, check that the pin and seal are intact, the hose has no cracks or kinks, the wheels turn freely, and the body has no dents or rust. A FireSpray unit stays factory-sealed, so there are no yearly refill visits. If a covered unit fails, we replace it. Read more on refill vs replace.

All questionsWhat is a mechanical foam fire extinguisher used for?
It is a wheeled foam unit for large flammable-liquid risks such as fuel stores, tank farms, refineries, tanker bays and paint or chemical plants. It also works on solid materials.
Which size of foam trolley should I buy: 25, 50 or 100 litres?
Choose by the quantity of fuel stored and the open area. 25 L suits smaller fuel and paint stores, 50 L suits tanker bays and plants, and 100 L suits tank farms and large storage areas.
Do I still need portable foam extinguishers if I have a trolley?
Yes. The trolley covers the main fuel risk, while 6 or 9 litre portable foam units on each floor let staff act quickly on small fires.
Can one person operate a foam trolley?
Yes, it is built so one person can wheel it and fight the fire, but two people are safer: one on the nozzle and one on the trolley and exit.
Can a foam extinguisher be used on electrical fires?
No. Use CO2 or clean agent for electrical fires.
