Which fires does a CO2 extinguisher put out?

• Class B: flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, oil, paint and solvents.
• Electrical fires: panels, wiring, meters, motors, generators and electronic equipment. CO2 does not conduct electricity and leaves nothing behind to clean.

CO2 is not the best choice for deep-seated fires in wood, paper or cloth, because the gas disperses and the material can reignite; use an ABC fire extinguisher there. For cooking-oil fires, use a K-type kitchen fire extinguisher.

CO2 or clean agent?

Both leave no residue. CO2 is the economical choice for electrical rooms and panels. A clean agent fire extinguisher also works on Class A fires and is preferred for occupied server rooms, labs and control rooms. How to use it safely

1. Pull the safety pin.
2. Aim the horn at the base of the fire, holding it only by its handle.
3. Squeeze the lever (or rotate the valve fully open).
4. Sweep from side to side.

The gas discharges very cold, so never touch the horn or the metal parts during use, as it can cause frostbite. Do not use CO2 in a small closed room without ventilation; leave and ventilate the room after use.

Monthly check, no yearly refills
