Product details
Stainless steel K-type kitchen fire extinguisher
This is the FireSpray K-type wet chemical extinguisher in a stainless steel body. Stainless steel stays clean and rust-free in steam, heat and grease, and looks right in an open hotel kitchen, a show kitchen or a premium modular home kitchen. Inside is the same wet chemical that cools burning cooking oil and seals it with a soap-like layer so it does not re-ignite. It carries the ISI mark, is pressure-tested at our factory and is covered by a 5-year warranty from the invoice date. It comes in 1 L, 2 L, 4 L, 6 L and 9 L; select a size above to see its price (plus GST).
What makes the best fire extinguisher for kitchen use?
Start with the type of fire. Cooking oil and fat burn very hot, and the wrong agent can make burning oil splash and spread. Here is how the common types compare on a pan or fryer fire:
| Type | On cooking-oil fires |
|---|---|
| Water | Never. It makes burning oil splash and spread. |
| ABC powder | Not designed for it; use it elsewhere in the building. |
| CO2 | Not designed for it; keep it for the kitchen’s electrical panel. |
| K-type wet chemical | Made for it: cools the oil and seals the surface. |
Add a body that suits a kitchen people can see, and you have what we think is the best fire extinguisher for kitchen areas that must look good and stay hygienic.
Stainless steel or red mild steel?
Both models give the same wet chemical protection. Choose by where the unit will be seen:
| Model | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| This stainless steel model | Open and show kitchens, hotel and restaurant kitchens on view, food courts, premium home kitchens, hospital and corporate canteens where hygiene is checked |
| Type K fire extinguisher (red mild steel) | Back-of-house cooking lines, dhabas and canteens where the finish does not matter |

Which size do I need?
| Size | Good for |
|---|---|
| 1 L and 2 L | Premium and modular home kitchens, pantries |
| 4 L | Cafes, show kitchens, small restaurant kitchens |
| 6 L and 9 L | Hotel and restaurant cooking lines with fryers and tandoors |
Mount it near the cooking line on the way to the exit, never directly above the hob. Keep a fire blanket beside it for small pan fires and clothing fires. For the rest of the home, read our guide to the fire extinguisher for home; for dining areas and stores, add an ABC fire extinguisher.
How to use it on a pan or fryer fire
- Turn off the gas or fryer if you can reach it safely.
- Pull the pin and stand back about two metres.
- Aim the gentle spray onto the oil surface, not as a hard jet into the pan.
- Squeeze and sweep slowly until the oil is fully covered.
Do not carry the pan outside and never pour water on it. Let it cool fully. If flames reach the chimney hood, leave and call the fire brigade.
Monthly check and care
Once a month, check that the gauge needle is in the green zone and the pin and seal are intact. Wipe the stainless steel body with a damp cloth to remove grease. A FireSpray unit stays factory-sealed, so there are no yearly refill visits. If a covered unit fails, we replace it. Read more on refill vs replace.
